EMDR THERAPY
a gentle, effective path toward healing truama
If you’ve been carrying the weight of painful memories, overwhelming emotions, or patterns that no longer serve you, you are not alone- and you don’t have to heal on your own. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a compassionate, evidence-based therapy that helps your brain do what it’s naturally designed to do: HEAL.

Out of proportion intense emotional reactions
What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR is a structured therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing experiences that haven’t fully resolved. When something overwhelming happens, the brain may store the memory in a way that keeps it feeling present and activating- long after the event is over.
Through EMDR, we use bilateral stimulation (tapping, tones, eye movements) while gently focusing on aspects of the memory. This allows the brain to reprocess the experience, reduce emotional intensity, and integrate healthier beliefs about it.
Many clients describe EMDR as feeling less like “reliving” the trauma and more like finally putting it where it belongs… in the past.
Eight Phases of EMDR TREATMENT
EMDR therapy follows an eight- phase framework designed to support safety, healing and lasting change. We begin with history taking and treatment planning, where I take time to understand your experiences and goals. Next is preparation, which focuses on building trust, coping skills and nervous system regulation so you feel grounded and supported. During assessment, we identify specific memories, emotions, body sensations, and beliefs connected to what you want to heal. Desensitization uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess the memory and reduce emotional intensity. In Installation, we strengthen healthier, more adaptive beliefs. Body scan helps ensure distress is cleared not just cognitively, but physically as well. Closure ensures you leave each session feeling stable and resourced, even if processing continues. Finally reevaluation at the start of future sessions helps us track progress and guide next steps- always at your pace.
